I actually found that LED I used, bought from Sparkfun back in 2010.... was [https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10023 COM-10023] and still seems to be available.

Here's the diagram for hooking up the probe:
 
NOTE!  I noticed when hooking up the wire to ground as shown in the video that the range was severely reduced.  I tried connecting it like it is here in the diagram and get much better performance

Make sure to set the jumpers properly, so you wake the board up when water is detected:

I actually found that LED I used, bought from Sparkfun back in 2010.... was COM-10023 and still seems to be available.
